Day 124: Eliminate the Little Lies That Keep You Fat, Depressed, and Foggy-Minded

Exercise – List 1-3 little lies you tell yourself, then tell one of you friend about one of them. This will help you be accountable to break it.

intermittent fasting and time restricted eating

Time restricted eating is not feasible for my lifestyle: Lie

I always hear the benefits of time restricted eating but I have been hesitant to commit to it. My schedule gets pretty chaotic and that leads me to eating too late at night. I’ve convinced myself I need to eat first thing in the morning to maintain energy levels. The fact of the matter is that it is a failure of discipline. I’m pretty disciplined but I have been avoiding taking the challenge of time restricted eating. Everything I’ve heard tells me that time restricted eating will increase my energy levels. I think I’m just avoiding the discomfort of anticipated hunger pangs that will take me a few days to adjust to. I’m gonna do it. Starting tomorrow I’m going to go to an 8 hour eating window between noon and 8PM.

It’s ok to eat an entire pizza in a sitting because I only eat pizza once a week: Lie

For a few years now I’ve been eating pretty darn healthy. I don’t really deprive myself of much. I try to limit my sugar intake and I’m ok with eating a salad instead of a quesadilla. One of the things that keeps me on track eating healthy foods and not getting bored of another quinoa bowl is knowing that on Sunday I’m gonna indulge in pizza and cookies.

I guess the lie I’m telling myself is that I need this reprieve. The truth of the matter is that I eat delicious healthy meals throughout the week. I don’t know that pizza day is really breaking me out of the monotony of healthy eating. The truth is my diet the other 6 days a week is not monotonous. I get a variety of good tasting foods on a weekly basis that others should be jealous of. Typically Ieat 4 cheesy eggs, sautéed onions, peppers, and mushrooms, a cup of blueberry topped yogurt, and a big old quinoa, flaxseed and turmeric pancake drizzled with honey for breakfast.

For dinner I eat wild caught salmon seasoned with Kinder’s amazing Buttery Steakhouse Rub for dinner or organic grass-fed steaks four to five times a week. I eat like a king so there is no reason I need to eat pizza once a week. I at least don’t need to eat an entire pizza. If I ever want to get serious to getting my body fat down to the lower side of the healthy BMI range then I’m going to need to make some changes to pizza night.
